Beldon Chase and Aura Dagger, of Chase and Dagger Detective Agency, are hired by Estin Ragg, a troll whose brother, Durif, was discovered dead under the 82nd Street Bridge. The coroner calls it a suicide, but Estin swears it was murder. The cops seem to be sitting on their hands because he’s a troll, and everyone knows how much trolls are castigated and despised in the realm.

Aura and Beldon are partners. He’s an ex-cop who was framed for something he didn’t do and kicked off the force. Soon after hanging out the shingle of his detective agency, he found Aura homeless in the streets after the death of her father. Something about the young woman touched him deep inside, and he took her in and trained her how to be a gumshoe.

They’re in love with each other, but it’s Beldon who’s put the skids on their relationship from becoming anything more than professional. Mostly because he's a Static, a man-beast unable to convert completely into a man or an animal.

As Bel and Aura are digging through clues as to whether or not someone killed Durif Ragg, their relationship comes to a head. Aura wants a commitment from Beldon. He would do anything to give it to her, but his own insecurities are holding him back.

Things eventually reach a breaking point when they discover who is actually behind Ragg’s death, and why. Which culminates in Aura giving Beldon a choice—either they make this a permanent partnership in all ways, or she takes a hike, leaving him and the detective agency.

Warning! Contains an ambush, foot chases, hoofprints, missing evidence, corruption, a slinky gold dress, and a perfect alignment that finally grants the wishes of the heart.

Rose White has had a string of bad luck, and it doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon. When two fairies are found dead in her nightclub, her livelihood is shut down until further notice. With no income coming in, and her employees left hanging, she’s forced to look for other alternatives.

Detective Rich Florian is on the case of the dead fairies, and soon learns they were poisoned. The nightclub owner and the Miner gang, her partners, are his first suspects, but Rich isn’t so quick to pin it on them. He’ll need to investigate further, and not just the DBs—something about Rose is drawing him in as well. And he’s convinced she’s innocent.

Just like every other bad thing that’s happened to Rose, her stepmother, Queenie, seems to be right in the middle of it. She offers to loan Rose the money to pay her way out and stay afloat, but as always, Rose knows the help would come with a much higher price.

How far would Queenie go to get what she wants? Murder? Arson? Even with the protection of the gang and her handsome detective, Rose still needs to keep her eyes open. But sometimes the most obvious suspect isn’t who you need to look out for.

As we’ve learned before, things in Grimm City are almost always not what they seem.

Warning! Contains a well-kept secret, passing the hat, a red pickup, dinner for two, involuntary manslaughter, smooth whiskey, and a man willing to risk it all for a kiss.

Looking for a quick buck to help feed her addiction, Cressa “Goldie” Locke helps herself to a nice looking house, hoping to score some jewelry to pawn. She’s perfected the art of small-time crime to keep from getting busted, but this time she may have gotten a little more than she bargained for. She picked the wrong house...or maybe it was just right.

When she wakes up in a hospital bed, Cressa knows she’s been caught red-handed and there’s no getting out of it, so she has no other choice than to come clean. She wasn’t expecting the owner of the house to also be a doctor, or for him to actually care for her. Why would he, when no one else ever had?

Dr. Myles Ursa has a soft spot for taking care of those in need. After all, he took an oath when he became a physician. So when he realizes the thief he found in his house is more than just a common criminal, but someone needing help, instead of pressing charges, he vows to save her, against Detective Horner’s advice. But she could also be the golden opportunity the police need to bust the drug dealers for good.

Unfortunately, word on the street is Cressa’s a snitch, and she’s got some big baddies looking for her. Enemies come in all forms, and Myles may have bitten off more than he can chew. But he’s determined to help Cressa turn her life around and clear her name, no matter how dangerous things could get.

Warning! Contains fake costume jewelry, sesame, illegal nudity, a flophouse, a cold breakfast, radios without mics, subterfuge, a sigil of safety, and a misunderstanding that, when cleared, enables a heart to accept the love of another.

All he knows is she’s a static, and he finds himself being drawn to the redheaded beauty as time passes. He knows he shouldn’t mix business with pleasure, but he almost can’t help himself.

He soon learns that someone on the ship knows who they both are, and they want them dead. Who can Rob and Naia trust? The couple’s job is to stop the jewel thief, but can they protect each other in the meantime?
