Reviews Linda Mooney brings us a very different type of UF/PNR with a unique concept. Gemstones in general can carry microorganisms that can infect ordinary humans and turn them into crazy killers. Our heroine is one of a handful of people who work with an organization that tracks and destroys these gemstone creatures before they cause too much chaos. While tracking a particularly dangerous Blue Diamond, she runs into a detective whom witnesses firsthand this strange new weirdness taking place. As someone who loves all things PNR and UF, it’s hard to take me by surprise and this concept did just that. I will say, it did take me awhile to get into the book as I was a little lost in the whole gemstone thing. I was able to piece it together as the story went on but it’s not until the heroine explains it to the hero about halfway through that I, as the reader, than understood as well. Also, this book does end on a cliffhanger, but a second book is teased at the end. So cliffy haters beware! I’m seriously intrigued enough to want to read the follow up. |
