Dear Ms Mooney,

With time growing short before Christmas, I’m looking for short stories or novellas to tuck into my reading schedule and this fit the bill nicely. The stories are pared down to the basics but still pack a punch. A volunteer looking for a way to get money quickly so that children at a battered women and children shelter can get gifts meets a nice old man looking to donate an antique. A harried single mother trying to stretch her pennies until payday remembers a childhood experience and learns that she hasn’t been forgotten. A ragtag group of misfits struggling to survive three years after the bombs dropped realize they got a Christmas gift after all. I’m never sure what I’m going to find in your stories but I’ve enjoyed them all so far. B
